Illinois has launched a invoice proposing a state-run Bitcoin reserve with a compulsory five-year holding interval, becoming a member of a rising variety of states exploring crypto treasury methods.

State Consultant John Cabello proposed Illinois Home Invoice 1844 (HB1844), which requires establishing a strategic reserve fund to carry Bitcoin as a “particular fund within the state treasury for the aim of holding Bitcoin as a monetary asset.”
