The 2026 Presidents Cup may be the most competitive in years as Team International look to snap the USA’s stranglehold on the event.
Like the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup is a biennial team tournament that pits America’s best players against the rest of the world, barring Europe.
The 16th edition of the all-star event is coming up this September with the States on a run of ten straight victories.
They claimed an 18½ to 11½ win in Montreal in 2024 as Jim Furyk, who will lead the USA at the Ryder Cup next year, captaining the side.
Team International have only won the event once, back in 1998 while the only other non-American win came in 2003 when the event was tied.
But the Internationals have plenty of quality this year and will hope to spring a surprise at Medinah Country Club following the American’s horror show at the Ryder Cup last autumn.
Presidents Cup 2026: Dates and schedule
The 2026 Presidents Cup will be held from Thursday, September 24 to Sunday, September 27.
Unlike the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup is held over four days.
The format has chopped and changed over the years but the 2026 event is expected to be the same as two years ago.
That means Thursday’s opening day will see five fourball matches held before five foursomes matches take place on Friday.
On Saturday, the teams face four fourball matches in the morning and another four foursomes matches in the afternoon.
And Sunday then includes 12 singles matches.
A total of 30 points are up for grabs with a team needing 15½ points to win the cup.

Presidents Cup 2026: Venue
Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois will host the 2026 Presidents Cup.
The famous course held the Ryder Cup in 2012, an event dubbed the ‘Miracle at Medinah’ after Europe came from four points down to claim glory on the final day.
The Europeans won Sunday’s singles by 8½ to 3½ to secure one of the greatest sporting comebacks of all time.
Medinah’s Course#3 will be used and is a par 72, measuring 7,564 yards in length.
Several holes wrap around Lake Kadijah which will provide drama early on and down the stretch.
The course has been revamped in recent years with larger greens, more complex bunkering and wider fairways as well as broad areas of long fescue rough.
The venue has held three US Opens and two PGA Championships as well as the BMW Championship more recently in 2019.

Presidents Cup 2026: Teams and captains
The captains for the event have been confirmed with Brandt Snedeker skippering the USA and Geoff Ogilvy in charge of the Internationals.
Snedeker won the Myrtle Beach Classic in May and was the FedEx Cup champion in 2012.
He was on the US team for their disastrous Medinah defeat that year, scoring just one point and being beaten by Paul Lawrie 5&3 on Sunday.
Ogilvy, meanwhile, was the US Open champion in 2006 and has three World Golf Championship titles. He also played in four Presidents Cups.
Both teams will include six automatic qualifiers plus six captain’s picks.
The Americans will be led by Scottie Scheffler and Cameron Young.
Russell Henley, Sam Burns, Ben Griffin, Collin Morikawa and Chris Gotterup are also high on their standings list.
JJ Spaun and Wyndham Clark, the winners of the last two US Opens, will likely make the team while other options include Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele and Akshay Bhatia.

For the Internationals, in-form Si Woo Kim and recent Open champion Ryan Fox will hope to star.
Hideki Matsuyama, Min Woo Lee, Tom Kim and Adam Scott will provide proven quality while Corey Conners and Jason Day both bring a wealth of experience.
Other players in contention include Nico Echavarria, Casey Jarvis, Ryo Hisatsune, Nick Taylor, Sungjae Im and Aldrich Potgieter.
The event is organised by the PGA Tour which means LIV Golf players cannot compete.
That means Bryson DeChambeau won’t be teeing it up for the US.
The Internationals have been hit hard by the ban on LIV players.
In-form Australians Lucas Herbert and Cameron Smith won’t be involved and neither will the likes of Louis Oosthuizen, Joaquin Niemann or Carlos Ortiz.
