With the Trade Deadline looming on Monday, Freddy Peralta — the subject of quite a bit of trade buzz — will not make his planned start against the Marlins on Friday night, sources told MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo. The team has not confirmed.
Peralta, whose acquisition was one of the centerpieces of the Mets’ offseason, has taken a big step back in 2026, going 5-9 with a 4.99 ERA in 22 starts. That followed a season in which he won an NL-best 17 games for Milwaukee and finished fifth in NL Cy Young Award voting.
Peralta, 30, was acquired from the Brewers along with swingman Tobias Myers in January for prospects Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams. A two-time All-Star, including in 2025, Peralta is 75-51 with a 3.74 ERA in parts of nine seasons in the Majors.
