Last year, after officially parting ways with AEW, former AEW Women’s Champion Mariah May, aka, Blake Monroe, made her WWE NXT debut. After a few successful months and an NXT Women’s North American Championship title reign, Monroe made her main roster debut in London.
Since making her SmackDown debut, Monroe has emerged as one of the top stars in the company. Speaking on TMZ Sports’ Inside The Ring, Monroe opened up about receiving several pitches to appear on the TV show, Love Island. However, the former champion claimed that the show was not for her and rejected the approaches every time.
“I could never, ever. I got asked to do Love Island many, many years ago and didn’t do it. Then I got asked again, and I thought about it, but I realized I’m crazy. I feel like if you’re on a show to find love, people go on to build a career. If you actually did go on to find love and you like a guy and you’re getting on, then they do those challenges where they’re eating each other and making out with your friends,” Monroe added. “I can’t. I’m not sitting there for that. I don’t share, so I don’t think it would be for me. I’d probably get kicked off pretty much instantly.”
While no current or former WWE Superstar has been a part of Love Island, professional wrestler Adam Maxted was selected to be a part of the second series of ITV’s Love Island in the UK, where he appeared from the 11th day. He later selected Katie Salmon as his date, and the pair ended the series in fourth place.
