Bet of the Day
Ayr United to beat Dunfermline Athletic @ 5/2
Ayr United have begun the new season in excellent fashion, winning all five competitive matches so far.
That included four wins in the League Cup group stage, with a 1-0 victory over Premiership side Falkirk the standout result. New manager Gary Naysmith has his team playing flowing football and they will likely challenge for a promotion spot this term.
Dunfermline, on the other hand, haven’t quite had the start Neil Lennon would have hoped for. The Pars suffered a dismal 3-0 defeat to East Kilbride in the League Cup, while they drew their opening Championship match 0-0 with Inverness, who were promoted from League One.
Home advantage offers a slight boost, but this isn’t the Pars side which reached the Scottish Cup final last season.
Ayr are on the up under Naysmith and another win this weekend will make it six in a row to begin the 2026/27 campaign. Odds of 5/2 are generous indeed for an Honest Men victory in Fife on Saturday afternoon.

Aberdeen to beat Dundee and over 2.5 goals @ 14/5
Aberdeen got off to the best possible Premiership start last weekend, coming from a goal down to net twice in added time, securing a 2-1 win over Hearts in the process.
Might this be the catalyst for a good season? Stephen Robinson will hope so, especially considering their league struggles in recent seasons. The last time Aberdeen finished third was during the 2022/23 campaign.
Dundee may have lost 1-0 to Celtic, but their performance was solid enough and a draw certainly would have been a fair result.
Three of Dundee’s first five games of the season have featured three or more goals, while four of the Dons’ first five games have finished with three or more goals being scored.
Given their stunning comeback against Hearts, back Aberdeen to record another win this weekend and there could be goals in this clash at Dens Park, especially as over 2.5 goals has landed in seven successive meetings between the teams.

Millwall to beat QPR, Blackburn Rovers to beat Burton Albion, Preston to beat Huddersfield Town treble @ 19/2
Millwall reached the play-offs last season, narrowly missing out on a chance to reach the Premier League as they suffered a 2-0 aggregate defeat to Hull City in the semi-finals.
QPR finished in a disappointing 15th position, losing both matches against Millwall 2-0 and 2-1 respectively. Back the Lions to make it four successive wins over the Loftus Road side on Saturday.
Blackburn Rovers face an awkward tie against League One side Burton Albion, but a win could bolster confidence heading into the league campaign.
Rovers have lost in the first round of this competition just once since the 2015/16 season, so back them to record a victory over Burton.
Finally, Preston play host to Huddersfield Town at Deepdale on Saturday and home advantage should prove crucial in this game.
Preston have won five of the previous six meetings between the two sides and, while they haven’t reached the third round of the EFL Cup since 2021, this opening tie offers an ideal opportunity to make it through to round two.
