Angels acquire infielder Vaughn Grissom from Red Sox
Vaughn Grissom will hope for a fresh start in Anaheim.
The Boston Red Sox are trading the 24-year-old infielder to the Los Angeles Angels, the teams announced Tuesday.
Outfielder Isaiah Jackson is headed to the Red Sox as the return.
Grissom spent all of 2025 playing for Boston’s triple-A affiliate, where he slashed .270/.342/.441 with 13 home runs in 96 games.
Formerly a top prospect of the Atlanta Braves, Grissom was dealt to the Red Sox in exchange for eventual Cy Young winner Chris Sale before the 2024 season.
He went on to play in just 31 games in Beantown, collecting 20 hits in 105 at-bats.
Before the trade, the Orlando, Fla., native made his big-league debut with Atlanta at 21 years old and posted a .792 OPS in his first 41 games.
Jackson, meanwhile, was selected by the Angels in the eighth round of last year’s draft. He made his pro debut later in the summer, playing in 10 games for Los Angeles’ high-A affiliate, going 7-for-32 with one home run.
