Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield is about to be your new favorite NFL player

Baker Mayfield is my favorite football player.

I never didn’t like Baker to be clear, but after speaking to him during Super Bowl Week in San Francisco… I would follow this man into any and every kind of battle. You can watch our conversation below.

Baker joined us on behalf of a partnership with SONIC, and it moved so smoothly that I thought it was the hedgehog for a second.

The football world knows Mayfield for his confidence and swagger, and I was curious where that comes from. At what point in his life did he develop that mantra/aura/disposition? When did he decide that he was Baker Mayfield and nothing else mattered?

For Baker that day was back in high school. He was doubted, as he often has been even since, during his junior year. He was called upon when the starter ahead of him was injured against his team’s biggest rival in a game that was taking place at the University of Texas’ stadium. Pretty big stakes!

As he has done at just about every turn since, Baker thrived. He is the perfect leader for a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that was looking for an identity in a post-Tom Brady world, and where a lot of people would have shrunk in that moment… Baker rose.
