Canucks recall D Pettersson and Tolopilo, send Patera to AHL
It was a short trip to the AHL for defenceman Elias Pettersson and goaltender Nikita Tolopilo.
One day after the Vancouver Canucks assigned both to AHL Abbotsford, the team announced Thursday that both Pettersson and Tolopilo have been recalled to join the big club. Tolopilo was recalled under emergency conditions.
In a corresponding move, the Canucks assigned goalie Jiri Patera back to Abbotsford.
Pettersson, 21, recorded two assists in 24 games with the Canucks this season.
The Swedish defenceman made his NHL debut with Vancouver last season and picked up one goal and two assists over 28 games.
Tolopilo, 25, went 1-1 with a 3.56 goals-against average and .892 save percentage in his two starts for the Canucks this season.
He was granted a leave of absence by the team on Monday after his wife went into labour.
The Canucks are next in action on Friday when they host the Utah Mammoth and will look to snap a three-game losing skid.
