Have a week, Justin Rose.

The legendary Englishman was absolutely clinical this week out at Torrey Pines en route to winning the Farmers Insurance Open and in the process he set the scoring record at 23-under par. He came out firing and never looked back. At one point during the broadcast when Rose obtained a 7-stroke lead, he would later relinquish it before getting it back, CBS’ Trevor Immelman noted that Rose appropriately had a touchdown lead what with the Super Bowl being next week. Touchdown, indeed.

As the week unfolded across sports, many were looking at the world of professional tennis with the Australian Open going on. Carlos Alcaraz wound up defeating Novak Djokovic, but the latter’s incredible career is well-documented. When Dkojovic reached the finals many wondered if he was the greatest athlete to be as great as he has been for as long as he has.

Not comparing the two in any way, on the subject of golf many people threw out Tiger Woods as another contender in this debate, but how about Justin Rose continuing to prove that he still has it with a dominating performance at Torrey Pines?

Last season saw Rose win only a single time and it took all the way until the FedEx St. Jude Championship for it to happen. Obviously he was incredible a month after that at Bethpage Black during the European Ryder Cup victory. He is the third winner of this new PGA Tour season and joins Chris Gotterup and Scottie Scheffler on the ever-growing list.

The PGA Tour has a couple of massive weeks ahead as it continues its California swing. This week will bring the WM Phoenix Open which is always incredible, but running parallel to the Super Bowl makes it all the more fun. After that is the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and then the Genesis Invitational.

Golf is all the way back and so is Justin Rose, although he never really left.
