Kings ‘hopeful’ Doughty, Foegele return Thursday against Blackhawks

The Los Angeles Kings could get closer to whole soon.

Head coach Jim Hiller told reporters Wednesday he is “hopeful” the injured Drew Doughty and Warren Foegele are able to return for Thursday’s game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Both players are expected to be good to go by Saturday for the second half of a two-game set with the Blackhawks if not Thursday, per Hiller.

Doughty, 35, has been on IR since blocking a shot with his left foot in mid-November against the Ottawa Senators.

The defenceman had two goals, six assists and a plus-six through 19 games in his 18th NHL season prior to the injury.

Foegele, 29, has missed the past three games with an upper-body injury.

Through 18 games in his second season with the Kings, the Markham, Ont., native had four goals and no assists.

The Kings sit third in the Pacific Division with a 12-7-7 record and 31 points in 27 games.
