People are sick of it.

Notre Dame is independent and that has led to a lot of (gestures around wildly) stuff over the last few months.

Following a snub in the College Football Playoff, the Irish upset football fans all the more by declining an invitation to the Pop Tarts Bowl and bowing out of bowl season entirely. It goes without saying that the state of college athletics is in an, um, unique spot right now, and to properly understand the Notre Dame side of it all we called in the best – Mike Golic.

Golic spoke to Notre Dame’s unique place in college football lore what with them being independent, and he noted that this makes them an easy target in a lot of respects. What is wrong with college football has way more to do with the organization itself and not any one specific team.

Another thing we touched on in our chat was getting tested for diabetes. Golic has partnered with Dexcom to make that even easier for people, and doing what he can to help others is a really admirable thing.

Our thanks to them for the time.
