Super Bowl squares recap: Fourth quarter results for Seahawks-Patriots in Super Bowl 60
The Seattle Seahawks are now a two-time Super Bowl champion franchise. The Seahawks beat the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl 60 to take home the Lombardi Trophy. If you played Super Bowl squares and had the Seahawks 9 and Patriots 3 square, congrats on closing out the night with a victory.
The final quarter was the highest scoring frame of the game, with the two teams combining for 30 points. While the Seahawks “won” the quarter 17-13, it was the quarter in which they pulled away in a big way. They took a 19-0 lead with a touchdown to open the quarter. It looked like the Patriots might make a game of things as they finally got on the board when Drake Maye found Mack Hollins for a touchdown and then forced a Seahawks punt. However, the Seahawks picked off Maye on back-to-back drives and put up ten points to put this game away.
Historically, 4 and 7 has been the most common combination of numbers at the end of the second quarter. Looking at the last two Chiefs Super Bowls, last year 9 hit for both teams as the game was tied 19-19 at the end of regulation. The Chiefs beat the 49ers in overtime 25-22. The year prior, the Chiefs came back to beat the Eagles 38-35, which meant 8 for Chiefs and 5 for Eagles paid out.
