While Siraj began swaying the trimmer at different angles to give Sarfaraz a makeover, a professional barber named Chaturanga stepped in and completed the hairstyle with a final look, where the Indian batter is looking quite chiselled. Gill and Pant were also present at the spot at the time of the incident as the barber styled their hairs as well.
The haircut session took place at a salon in Colombo during the Indian squad’s break before the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to begin on August 15, 2026, at the Galle International Stadium.
For the unversed, Sarfaraz joined the Indian squad after being named as a replacement for Sai Sudharsan on August 9, 2026. Sudharsan was ruled out with a right toe injury ahead of the Galle Test. The Mumbai batter has played six Tests for India, scoring one century and three fifties across 11 innings. His previous Test appearance came during India’s home series against New Zealand in 2024, where he also registered his highest score of 150 in the Bengaluru encounter. In the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season, he scored 429 runs in nine innings at an average of 53.62.
India’s pace attack for the Galle Test
Siraj, a right-arm fast bowler born on March 13, 1994, in Secunderabad, is set to lead India’s pace attack in the series. Jasprit Bumrah is absent from the squad after failing to receive fitness clearance. Siraj will be joined in the pace unit by Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, and Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi.
India’s squad for the series includes Shubman Gill as captain and KL Rahul as vice-captain, alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel as wicketkeepers, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Mohammed Siraj and others. The first Test is set to be played in Galle on August 15, 2026.
