The Kansas City Chiefs are moving across state lines, and Andy Reid wants to see unity.
Kansas have won a tug of war with Missouri that will allow a $4 billion development, including a domed arena.
Head coach Andy Reid has described the move as ‘phenomenal’, but he has urged Chiefs fans to keep showing up.
“From the coach’s standpoint, I think that’s a beautiful thing. Getting a new stadium, I think it’s great for both Kansas and Missouri,” Reid said at Chiefs training camp.
“Opportunity to have a first-class stadium here, and with all the modern innovations that have come out in stadium building, it will be there.
“So I think that’s a beautiful thing when it’s all said and done.”
There is a deep-rooted athletic rivalry, commonly known as the Border War, between Kansas and Missouri.
This has led to the proposed move to their new domed arena causing uproar amongst some fans.
Reid, who is the NFL’s highest paid coach with a contract running through 2029, has a message for fans who are against the relocation in 2031.
“I know how competitive, I mean, I coached at the University of Missouri, man, I know how competitive Missouri and Kansas are,” Reid added.
“But we’re just 20 minutes away, right? It’s just 20 minutes away, and keep coming, right? You keep coming when we get to that point.”
Travis Kelce has already made it clear that he would have preferred the franchise to stay at the iconic Arrowhead Stadium, their home for the last 54 years.

Mahomes is also of the belief of just how important the fans are to making the team so successful over his decade as the starter under center.
Their total support will be even more crucial for the Chiefs, who are looking to return to the Super Bowl following a disappointing 2025 campaign.

Previously, Kansas City made it clear their preference was to stay at Arrowhead and upgrade one of the oldest venues in the league.
After a Jackson County voters opposed an $800 million renovation – their hands became tied, but their new venue should allow the franchise to fulfil a long-time ambition.
The Chiefs have never hosted a Super Bowl – which is a goal of president Mark Donovan’s, despite warnings it’s not all it’s made out to be.
Donovan also added that he intends to have a grass playing surface, rather than turf as the league’s ‘grass vs turf’ debate strengthens.

While the move across the state line marks the end of an iconic era at Arrowhead, it’s clear to see the franchise is betting big on the future.
If the vision is executed, and Reids wish is answered, Kansas City will just retain its fierce home-field advantage.
For now the Chiefs are underway with training camp for their attempt to bounce back from a first losing season in more than a decade.
Mahomes joined the rest of the squad in practise, insisting the injury that ended his and the Chiefs 2025 season is behind him and he is go to chase a fourth Super Bowl ring.
All eyes are now on the Week 1 opener against the Denver Broncos, which will be at Arrowhead – and as time ticks away on their legendary home, every moment will be savoured.
