Brad Keller has right elbow UCL tear

Prior to tonight’s game against the New York Mets, the Phillies placed right-handed pitcher Brad Keller on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to July 13) with a right elbow UCL tear. To fill his spot on the 26-man roster, right-handed pitcher Seth Johnson was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.

Keller, 30, has gone 2-1 with a 4.02 ERA (14 ER, 31.1 IP) and 32 strikeouts in 32 relief appearances for the Phillies this season. A native of Snellville, Ga., Keller has converted three saves in four opportunities and has posted a staff-leading 13 holds. His average exit velocity allowed (85.5 mph), ranks in the 95th percentile among major league pitchers in 2026. Originally selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the eighth round of the 2013 MLB Draft, Keller was signed by the Phillies on Dec. 18, 2025.

The 27-year-old Johnson has appeared in a career-high 11 games over his three stints for the Phillies this season, striking out 14 hitters in 11.1 innings. Acquired from the Baltimore Orioles with right-handed pitcher Moisés Chace on July 30, 2024, in exchange for left-handed pitcher Gregory Soto, the Concord, N.C., native was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the first round (Competitive Balance Round A, 40th overall) of the 2019 MLB Draft.
