Brewers’ Jesús Made hits second pro grand slam at Double-A

There’s a lot that has to go right in order for a grand slam to happen. Batters have to either be patient enough to take a walk or aggressive enough to collect a knock that doesn’t clear the fence. Then runners have to avoid overextending themselves. And of course, you need a slugger on the back end who can clean it all up.

Made closed June with a four-hit performance but had largely been held in check thus far in July, aside from a frozen-rope homer he drilled last Friday. In a 2-for-25 slump after a first-inning groundout, the 19-year-old phenom was staring down the possibility of going hitless in four consecutive games for the first time in his career.

Facing 28-year-old Tyler Santana (Cubs) in the sixth, Made spit on a slider in the dirt to begin the at-bat before taking a heater on the outer third. Santana came back with a curveball that caught too much of the dish and found out what pitchers all across the Double-A Southern League have learned in 2026: You can’t make a mistake to Made.

The Brewers shortstop kept it inside the right-field foul pole and got to enjoy a trot around the bases before sharing a celebratory shimmy with recently promoted teammate and fellow premier prospect Andrew Fischer (MIL No. 7) in the on-deck circle en route to donning the team’s home run chain in the dugout.

Despite being the youngest player (19 years, 62 days) at Double-A, Made ranks second in the Southern League in RBIs with 58, trailing only teammate Blake Burke (61), who often drives him in when he reaches. Made’s 136 total bases are tied for fourth-most on the circuit and are also a credit to his availability, having appeared in 75 of Biloxi’s 80 games thus far in 2026.

Home runs — and especially grand slams — often grab headlines. But Made, who ascended to No. 1 overall prospect status earlier this season, continues to develop as an all-around hitter. He hit .314 during June, his fifth month as a pro in which he’s exceeded the .300 threshold. Of the 180 qualified Double-A hitters entering the night, Made is running the 11th-lowest K rate at 14.6 percent, a 6 percent drop from where he sat last year.

COMPLETE BREWERS PROSPECT COVERAGE

There’s been a concerted youth movement pushing toward Milwaukee this season, especially on the Top 100 prospect front: Right-hander Brandon Sproat made the Opening Day roster, joined shortly thereafter by Logan Henderson (who graduated from prospect status on Thursday night). Shortstop Cooper Pratt (MIL No. 3/MLB No. 56) debuted June 16, before being joined by Luis Lara (MIL No. 4/MLB No. 67) earlier this week.

He may not join them in 2026, but there’s only one Jesús Made.
