Eli Manning fails to make Hall of Fame in second attempt

Debate over whether or not Eli Manning is a Hall of Famer will be postponed another year, with The Athletic reporting that Eli did not make the cut to be entered into the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Manning being enshrined in Canton has been a hotly debated topic since he was put on the ballot for the first time in 2024. Some fans feel like his two Super Bowl wins over Tom Brady and the dominant Patriots is enough to warrant being included, while others feel that his resume just isn’t strong enough outside of those two wins — both of which were defined more by the Giants’ defense, than the team’s quarterback play.

The best argument for Eli outside of the rings are his career passing yards. With 57,023 he’s 11th on the all-time passing yards list — but a career 84.1 passer rating, as well as having a TD/INT ratio of 366/244 really don’t make him someone worthy of being enshrined.

It’s also fair to have a slippery slope argument in inducting Manning. If he gets enshrined then it becomes very difficult to keep out Philip Rivers or Matt Ryan, both of whom have been seen as borderline candidates. It also opens the door for someone like Joe Flacco, who has fewer yards than Manning and one less ring — but an identical passer rating. Nobody on the face of the earth would consider Joe Flacco a Hall of Fame quarterback.

Nevertheless, Eli’s exclusion does come as a surprise. The assumption was that he was enough of a borderline candidate that the Manning name might carry him through, but instead we have another year where he will be left waiting to join his brother.

What do you think? Is Eli Manning worthy of the Hall of Fame?
