Lautaro Martinez then bagged the eventual winner, heading in an inch-perfect Lionel Messi cross to send Argentina into the 2026 World Cup final.

‘We got too passive after we scored’
England boss Tuchel has taken responsibility for the semi-final defeat to Argentina in Atlanta.
Speaking after the game, he added: “I did defensive substitutions in the last games to help the players.
“But we conceded straight away and decided to go to a back five because the gaps were far too open, they kept crossing.
“We went to a back five to close the gaps inside and be strong in the air…straight after our goal we conceded too many chances.
“We tried to help, but of course, the responsibility is on the coach, but if it doesn’t go well, it’s easy to say I was wrong.
“I have to make a decision on the pitch. I take the responsibility.”
