Per MLB.com Pipeline’s Jim Callis, Booth signed for $7,324,700 — just $2,500 less than the slot value of the No. 7 overall pick.
Booth receives the third-largest signing bonus in Orioles history behind Jackson Holliday in 2022 and Adley Rutschman in 2019.
Booth, 18, was the top-ranked outfielder in the 2026 Draft. The high school standout out of Oak Grove, Miss., was also the fastest player in the Draft, with an elite run grade of 70 on the traditional 20-80 scouting scale. A left-handed hitter, Booth posted a .441/.612/.803 slash line in four years at Oak Grove High School.
He had been committed to play at Vanderbilt University.
Booth is the latest outfielder taken by president of baseball operations Mike Elias. The O’s have selected an outfielder with their top pick in six of the past seven Drafts.
“We like a lot about Booth,” Will Robertson, the Orioles’ vice president of domestic scouting, said last Saturday. “… E.J. has had an up arrow next to a lot of his tools.”
