Jermall Charlo has been forced to withdraw from his bout on the Errol Spence Jr vs Tim Tszyu undercard next weekend.
The unbeaten two-weight world champion was set to face Koen Mazoudier in his first fight in 14 months at the Afterpay Arena in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday, July 26.
However, earlier this week it was revealed that Charlo was struggling to enter Australia due to visa issues.
According to esteemed boxing journalist Dan Rafael, Charlo’s struggles stemmed from previous run-ins with the law.
Fellow American Stephen Fulton had also been grounded just over a week before fight night, while Spence Jr’s entrance to the country was a smooth one.
Thankfully for Fulton, he has since landed Down Under ahead of his bout with Liam Wilson.
But the same can’t be said for Charlo, who took to social media on Friday night to reveal that he wouldn’t be able to compete next Sunday after his visa was denied.

“Unfortunately, I will not be able to fight next Saturday (in the US, Sunday in Australia).
“I’ve been training nonstop for the last three months and was ready to make a statement.
“I want to apologize to all my fans and let them know I will keep training and be back on a PBC event very soon.
“Australian Government [thumbs down emoji and shrugging emoji].
“Out of my control. I will stay focused and locked in @premierboxing will update you soon.”

The collapse of his upcoming fight is a punch in the gut for Charlo, who hasn’t set foot in the ring since his sixth-round stoppage victory over Thomas Lamanna in May 2025.
It would have been just the second fight in three years for the 36-year-old, who was due to act as chief support on the blockbuster bill.
Charlo’s lengthy stretch on the sidelines can mostly be attributed to his poor mental health in recent years.
Opening up on his struggles during a candid interview with The New York Post, Charlo said: “Depression, self-conflation, going from hot to cold really fast is shocking to you.
“Dealing with all kinds of cases of [being] bipolar, being by yourself, thinking that you shutting the world out is gonna help you.
“But you need to be able to speak to someone and help you get past whatever you’re going through.

“It just feels like everybody is against you.
“I don’t care if you’re in the Uber, a cab, wherever; everybody is just against you. Why I felt like this, [I don’t know].
“I couldn’t tell that some people weren’t against me.
“It was just that, at the moment, it’s the way you’re feeling, and I turned my back against pretty much the world.
“I just had to start getting help with it, and it made me a lot better.”
PBC are expected to get Charlo back out as soon as possible.
It remains unclear whether No Limits will seek a new opponent for Mazoudier.
