Fans go gaga as Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma’s blistering knocks help India crush Zimbabwe to seal the T20I series

India put on a dominant all-round display at the Harare Sports Club on July 25, 2026, crushing Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the 2nd T20I. Powered by fireworks at the top and sharp work with the ball, the Men in Blue sealed an emphatic victory to take an unassailable lead in the series. Fans erupted both in the stands and online as India set a massive target and choked the hosts’ chase early on.

Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma guide India to a huge total

After being asked to bat first, India suffered an early stutter when opener Abhishek Sharma fell for just 8 in the second over, followed shortly by Vaibhav Suryavanshi (20 off 9). However, Player of the Match Ishan Kishan completely flipped the momentum with an explosive counter-attack. The left-hander tore through the Zimbabwean attack, smashing 81 runs off just 44 deliveries at a strike rate of 184.09, laced with 7 crisp fours and 5 towering sixes.

Kishan steadied the ship alongside skipper Shreyas Iyer (25 off 20) in a crucial 66-run partnership for the third wicket. Once Iyer departed, Tilak Varma joined the party and unleashed total mayhem. Varma accelerated effortlessly, hammering an unbeaten 60 off just 29 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes) at a strike rate over 206. Their explosive stand pushed India past the 200-mark before quick cameos from Rinku Singh (12) and Shivam Dube (6*) propelled the visitors to a formidable 219/5 in their 20 overs. Newman Nyamhuri was the pick of the local bowlers with 1/25 in 3 overs, but Zimbabwe’s attack generally struggled to contain the boundary flow.

Disciplined India bowling attack derails Zimbabwe’s chase

Chasing a daunting target of 220 runs, Zimbabwe needed a blazing start, but India’s disciplined bowling unit extinguished their hopes early. Opening batter Brian Bennett offered brief resistance with a brisk 32 off 19 balls, but once Yash Thakur dismissed him in the 4th over, the Zimbabwean batting line-up collapsed like a house of cards.

Prince Yadav (2/10) dealt double blows, removing Ben Curran (15) and skipper Sikandar Raza for a 3-ball duck, leaving the hosts reeling at 49/4. Ravi Bishnoi spun a web through the middle overs, clean-bowling Dion Myers (12) and finishing with super-frugal figures of 1/20 in his 4 overs. While Tadiwanashe Marumani (24) and Ryan Burl (20) tried to re-anchor, the pressure proved too intense. Part-time spinner Abhishek wrapped up the tail in style, taking 3 wickets for 17 runs in just 2.5 overs. Zimbabwe were eventually bundled out for 129 in 17.5 overs, handing India a comprehensive 90-run victory alongside two catches behind the stumps for Kishan.
