The New York Knicks have had a wonderful summer, after taking home the 2026 NBA championship. It is the first time in more than 50 years that the Knicks won the title. That is due partially to star OG Anunoby, who made a game-winner to help New York win Game 4 of the NBA Finals.
Anunoby says he is moving on from that moment.
“It comes up quite a bit so I see it quite a bit,” he said, per Sky Sports. “…..”No. I’m over it now.”
Anunoby said it was difficult for him to even celebrate at that moment, like so many Knicks fans did.
“It wasn’t a lot of celebration immediately because we had another game to win,” he said. “We didn’t want to be ahead of ourselves and celebrate prematurely.”
The Knicks big man does take a moment though now to reflect on what his team just did. New York defeated the San Antonio Spurs to win the finals, in five games.
“We went on a crazy run,” he said. “I don’t know how many games we won in a row (13) but every game was focused on the next, trying to build and be better than we were the last game.
“Even in the Finals, it was just day by day, game by game.”
Before meeting up with the Spurs in the NBA Finals, New York defeated the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
The Knicks star is excited to get going this upcoming NBA season. He says the goal is clear.
“Just continue to get better individually and as a team – and hopefully win the championship all over again,” Anunoby said.
During the 2025-26 regular season, Anunoby averaged 16.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
