Djed Spence to Manchester United?
It’s a no-brainer according to Manchester United fan and talkSPORT host Flex.
The Tottenham defender was among England’s standout performers at the World Cup despite garnering detractors over his inclusion in Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man squad.
The 26-year-old silenced the doubters with a host of superb displays during the Three Lions’ run to the semi-finals.
But despite his heroics in North America, Spence’s future at Tottenham is unclear with the player understood to be open to a move away from the club.
Serie A champions Inter have been long-standing admirers of the full-back.
talkSPORT reported on Tuesday that the Nerrazzuri had reopened talks with Tottenham over signing him.
However, what may come as a surprise to many is the projected fee of around £25-30million that could see Spence land in Milan.
Spurs have spent heavily this summer with over £200m splashed on reinforcements and the club’s transfer record smashed twice in the same window.
Therefore, the north London club may need to offload some talents to balance the books and Spence could be at the top of the list.
A good fit at Old Trafford?
But Flex is hoping Inter won’t have an easy path to obtaining Spence’s signature and admits that Manchester United would benefit from the star’s skill set.
“This is one we need to be all over,” he told talkSPORT.

“I’m sorry, we need to raise our ceiling of players we need to choose from.
“Not everyone has to be the number one starter or the left-back or right-back for the next ten years. You can’t always sign that player.
“But for where we are and the depths of the competitions we want to go into, stylistically I need different options.”
Conceding defeat
Flex was more than happy to take his own dose of humble pie after watching Spence’s World Cup performances.
“Djed Spence, I gave him a rough time. I’ll hold my hands up,” he added.
“Going into the World Cup when he was in the squad and there was no Trent [Alexander -Arnold] and no Lewis Hall and I saw people like Dan Burn and Djed Spence, I was like ‘what is this?’

“But he bit down on his gum shield and said I’m here to show people what I’m about. He didn’t play too dissimilar to how he actually plays.
“He’s very good in 1v1 situations, he’s extremely quick and can play on both sides.
“You’re talking about value in the market, I’d absolutely have him for £25million.”
Flex admits that a move for the Tottenham star might split the fan base but says that he could be prove to be a better option United’s current right-back choices.
“Some fans might question, he’s a right-back, we need a left-back out and out. I’d argue we need a right-back too,” he said.
“I’d argue he’s a potential upgrade on [Noussair] Mazraoui and Diego Dalot and have different styles.

“Mazraoui is a very good footballer with his feet, with his understanding of the game, positionally.
“Going forward, less so but he’s a steady footballer and a very good squad guy to have.
“But, I’d have Djed Spence all day.”
