Tom Brady has been a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders since 2024.
Throughout his tenure, though, he has continued to position himself favorably and appears to hold more power than his mere five percent ownership stake in the team suggests.
“Brady is such a fascinating guy right now, because he kind of answers to no one,” ESPN’s Seth Wickersham told Awful Announcing.
“He gets to do what he wants. I think that he can have as much influence of that team as he wants to. I do think there’s a difference.
“Even though he’s an owner, obviously, he has a lot of philosophies and a foundation of how a team should be run. I think if you’re gonna do that, you have to be there a lot.”
As it stands, Mark Davis holds the majority stake in the Raiders, and having taken over from his father is not currently looking to sell.

However, the 70-year-old has been given the green light by NFL owners to begin the process of offloading some of his shares.
Silver Lake co-CEO Egon Durban was granted the option to purchase a majority stake in the team when Davis does decide to follow through with his succession plan, with the approval coming back in April.
Durban and limited partner Michael Meldman purchased an additional 3.5 percent of the Raiders following that approval, with a further 3.5 percent potentially becoming available to be sold at a later date.
Should Davis ultimately decide to sell sooner rather than later, it remains to be seen what exactly that would entail for Brady going forward – having paid an equity investment of about $110million himself.

It’s unlikely that he would see his role diminished in any way – in fact, it is projected to be quite the opposite.
“I think that there’ll be some point where [Mark Davis] ends up selling his controlling ownership,” Wickersham added.

“And when that happens, I could imagine Brady even having a bigger role. At the end of the day, it’s ultimately his decision.”
Despite having some restrictions due to his role as Fox Sports’ lead NFL color commentator, arguably the greatest quarterback of all time has imposed himself in the majority of major discussions as it pertains to the franchise.
He was heavily involved in the hiring of John Spytek as their new general manager, as well as the hiring – and firing – of Pete Carroll, and then, in February, naming Klint Kubiak as Carroll’s successor.
Over this offseason in particular, Brady has reportedly been more of an omnipresent figure in and around the facility, attending team OTAs in May, as well as visits during training camp.
This is something he will not be able to do during the regular season due to his 10-year, $375 million role with Fox.
So it appears that he is making the most of what he can do in the lead-up to the new campaign, with a new era of Raiders football set to be ushered in with the arrival of No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza.
