NFL news: Stefon Diggs gets free agent endorsement from ex-NFL quarterback

With Stefon Diggs looking for suitors as he wants to continue his NFL career after playing one season for the New England Patriots, one former player would give his thoughts on what a role for the wide receiver could look like. As Diggs has been dealing with lawsuits and off-the-field controversies ever since being released by the Patriots, the 32-year-old is looking to start anew with a different team.

Speaking on “NFL Live” on ESPN, former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck would say that he sees “value” with Diggs in a veteran role, especially with a team like the Kansas City Chiefs. He likes the fit with Kansas City as they have an “established quarterback that can deal with a big personality.”

“I do see the fit in Kansas City because it’s a team that’s got an established quarterback that can deal with a big personality,” Hasselbeck said. “Especially a guy that’s used to getting the football, who maybe would have to have a different role. And for a little context, guys in the two deep at wide receiver in Kansas City: Jimmy Holiday, Jalen Royals, Cyrus Allen, like those are the names in the two-deep.”

“Remember, this is a Kansas City team that did a lot of things on the defensive side of the ball, especially in the draft,” Hasselbeck continued. “And so they’ve essentially said we’re going to rerun it with our starting receivers from a year ago. Who knows what’s going to happen with Rashee Rice? What his availability will end up being for the entirety of the season, I think that there’s value in Stefon Diggs in some role.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen which teams sign Diggs this offseason.
