Ravens news: Jesse Minter gives Zay Flowers injury update after extension

The Baltimore Ravens recently got a scare when wide receiver Zay Flowers went down with a quad injury at training camp. The news came just days after Flowers signed a massive extension with the team to keep him as their number one wide receiver over the long haul.

Now, the team has gotten the latest update on Flowers’ condition from head coach Jesse Minter.

“I feel good that he’ll be back out here being Zay here really soon,” said Minter, per Sam Cohn of the Baltimore Sun.

At this point, it’s unclear how much time Flowers might miss due to the ailment, but it doesn’t seem to be anything serious, which is certainly great news as the season quickly approaches.

While some fans were a bit perplexed by the astonishing figures of Flowers’ new contract, the deal signaled Baltimore’s commitment to the talented wideout as their number one receiver moving forward.

Meanwhile, rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane has raised eyebrows at training camp thus far and may have played his way into a consistent spot in the Ravens’ rotation this year. The wide receiver position has been inconsistent at best for Baltimore during Lamar Jackson’s tenure as the team’s starting quarterback, but that could start to change with Flowers’ continued strong play and the potential emergence of Lane.

Overall, the Ravens are looking to bounce back after a rough 2025 season that saw them miss the playoffs altogether despite rallying from a brutal start.

In any case, Baltimore is set to kick off its new season on September 13 on the road vs the Indianapolis Colts at 1:00 pm ET.
