We’ve got another excellent weekend of racing action ahead of us and there’s plenty happening on Saturday, with seven meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland.
The best of the action comes from Ascot and one of the most prestigious races of the season is the main event on the card. A field of nine has been declared for the 2026 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes and we’re set for a generational clash.
Last year’s winner Calandagan is set to take on Irish Derby hero Benvenuto Cellini, as the older horse seeks to get the better of the younger generation.
Our expert has selected three horses to follow across the card, one of which runs in the race of the day.

2.20 Ascot – Touleen @ 4/5
Owen Burrows’ TOULEEN showed promise as a two-year-old, winning well on debut, before landing a warm novice under a penalty at Leicester on her next start. Things didn’t work out in the Rockfel Stakes after that, but that run wasn’t an accurate reflection of her ability.
Making her return in the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Stakes back in April, she stuck to her task well in the end and kept on well for second, despite not quite having enough pace to win. The step up to a mile was always going to suit and she wasn’t disgraced in the Guineas.
A trip to Royal Ascot then followed and she ran an absolute stormer to finish second behind Precise, despite getting stuck behind some traffic, and could have finished even closer. That form makes her the one to beat now down in grade and she can get the job done.
2.35 York – Damysus @ 3/1
The four-year-olds might just have a bit too much power for the sole three-year-old runner in the field here and the John & Thady Gosden-trained DAMYSUS looks like the one to side with. He will definitely appreciate the step back in trip, which could make a big difference.
Second in the Dante over course and distance last season, he struggled in the Derby but managed to win his next two starts over 1m2f and 1m1f, with the second of those coming in the Group 3 Darley Stakes at Newmarket in the autumn.
This son of Frankel won the Earl Of Sefton Stakes over 1m1f impressively on seasonal debut and wasn’t disgraced when lining up in Group 1s over a mile after that. Life should be much easier in this lower grade and the four-year-old should be bang in the mix.
3.35 Ascot – Minnie Hauk @ 6/1
This season hasn’t exactly gone to plan for MINNIE HAUK, but that could be set to change here, with a big return to form expected. All of her best form has come over 1m4f and she has been running over shorter trips, which haven’t shown her to best effect.
Going back up to her optimum trip for the first time in 2026, she ran an absolute cracker to finish second by a narrow margin in the Arc last term and that is exceptional form. She did manage to win on seasonal debut at the Curragh, when landing the Mooresbridge Stakes.
Landing a trio of Group 1 races last season, she showed a good attitude to get the better of her tenacious stablemate Whirl in the Oaks and she then went on to win the Irish equivalent and the Yorkshire Oaks, before her trip to Paris in the autumn.
You can put a line through her run at the Breeders’ Cup as it was a mistake to run her off the back of a hard race at Longchamp.
Aidan O’Brien’s filly is more than capable of making her presence felt in this grade and we should see a much-improved performance.
