Tyson Fury is set to duke it out with ageing Polish journeyman Mariusz Wach this week in a fight designed to warm him up for Anthony Joshua.
The British heavyweight titans have signed to meet each other in the fourth quarter of the year, contingent upon both men winning their respective tune-up fights.
After suffering minor injuries and the emotional distress of losing two close friends in a car crash at the back end of last year in Nigeria, Joshua’s return is also coming up this weekend.
Fury returned to the ring in April to outpoint Arslanbek Makhmudov after a short-lived 16-month retirement.
He then opted to squeeze in another fight with 46-year-old Wach, who is 3-7 in his last 10 fights.
Fury vs Wach: Date and how to follow
Fury and Wach will lock horns on Friday, July 24, the day before Joshua meets Prenga.
The 12-round fight is set to take place at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, with proceeds going to local charities.
According to Fury, the fight will not be broadcast live.
Instead, it will be filmed by Netflix as part of the third season of ‘At Home with the Furys’.
