Vici Gaming log comeback win to open Dota Games of the Future

Vici Gaming rallied for a 2-1 win over Amaru Gaming as the Games of the Future event got underway on Friday in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The $1 million Dota 2 event features 16 teams divided into four groups for the opening double-elimination stage. All group-stage matches are best-of-three.

The winners of the four groups will advance to the playoff quarterfinals. The second- and third-place sides from each group will compete in the preliminary playoff round, and the fourth-place squads will be eliminated.

The single-elimination playoffs will feature best-of-three matches until the grand final on Wednesday, which will be best-of-five. The winning team will earn $350,000.

In Group A on Friday, Amaru opened with a 37-minute win on green before Vici prevailed in 25 minutes and in 37 minutes, both on green. Guo “shiro” Xuanang logged a 24-7-22 kill-death-assist ratio for all-Chinese Vici Gaming. Peru’s Jean “PiPi” Valente paced Amaru Gaming with a 13-8-22 K-D-A ratio.

The other Group A opener saw Yellow Submarine sweep Execration 2-0.

In Group B, Rune Eaters dumped Midas Club 2-0, and PlayTime toppled Team Resilience 2-0.

GLYPH bested Enjoy 2-0 while Zero Tenacity downed Yakult Brothers 2-0 in Group C.

Group D featured a pair of 2-1 decisions. Xtreme Gaming edged LGD Gaming, and REKONIX nipped L1GA TEAM.
