[Watch] DPL 2026: Himmat Singh’s bizarre run-out attempt leads to Super Over drama

The Delhi Premier League 2026 witnessed a dramatic finish during Match No. 8 between Outer Delhi Warriors and New Delhi Tigers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. An extraordinary run-out on the final ball of the match forced the contest into a Super Over after the scores were level.

Chasing the target, Outer Delhi Warriors needed just one run from the final delivery of the 15th over. Pratham Saluja, who was on strike, timed the ball well and immediately set off for the winning run. New Delhi Tigers skipper Himmat Singh rushed towards the ball and attempted to collect it quickly for a run-out opportunity.

However, in a bizarre turn of events, Himmat failed to gather the ball cleanly. In frustration, he kicked the ball with his leg, and it ricocheted onto the stumps at the non-striker’s end. By the time the stumps were broken, Saluja was well short of his crease. Despite the unusual dismissal, the single had not been completed, leaving the scores tied and taking the game into a Super Over.

The Super Over belonged entirely to Outer Delhi Warriors. Batting first, they piled up an imposing 20 runs, putting New Delhi Tigers under immense pressure. In reply, the Tigers struggled to keep up with the required rate and were restricted to just six runs while losing two wickets, handing Outer Delhi Warriors a memorable victory.

The thrilling win helped Outer Delhi Warriors climb to sixth place in the standings with their first victory of the season. Meanwhile, despite the defeat, New Delhi Tigers remained third on the points table with one win from three matches.

Both teams will be back in action on August 6. New Delhi Tigers are set to face Purani Dilli 6, while Outer Delhi Warriors will take on South Delhi Superstarz as they look to build on the momentum from this dramatic triumph.
