The Night One of WWE SummerSlam 2026 saw the return of Nikki Bella. Injured and out since WWE WrestleMania 42, the WWE Hall of Famer returned to in-ring action after a span of several months.
However, moments after Nikki Bella’s return, her twin sister Brie Bella was ruled out with a shoulder injury. Midway through the six-woman tag-team match, fans saw Jacy Jayne perform a cannonball on Bella on the ringside steel steps. The nasty bump was in reality nasty and left Bella injured. Throughout the rest of the match, the Hall of Famer looked in discomfort and kept grabbing her injured shoulder.
Now, days after the PLE, The Bella Twins opened up on their Nikki And Brie YouTube channel, where they shared a conversation about Brie Bella’s injury and the result of it during their bout.
“What’s the universe trying to tell us?” Brie Bella said. While, Nikki Bella answered, “I know, what is up? How wild. They don’t want both Bellas. It’s crazy because you come back and then I break my ankle. I come back you break your shoulder.”
Brie Bella further opened up and shared that WWE had considered calling off the match due to her injury, however, the promotion continued the bout and kept the finish as planned. “What’s even crazier – that some of the girls were talking about is – when you broke your ankle, you continued the match, and then I broke my shoulder – and it’s so funny cos we’re people pleasers, but the whole time in my head I’m like ‘No, I gotta stay in so Nikki can get the hot tag.’ They were telling me ‘Stay down,’ they were thinking about calling the match, and I’m like ‘No, no, no.’ Even though I was crazy pain, all I could think about was ‘Nikki gotta hit that comeback,’” Bella said.
As of now, there are no confirmed updates on Brie Bella’s in-ring return.

During the same above-mentioned episode, Brie Bella discussed her injury recovery during the final moments of it. “I made it back home and it feels so good to be back in my bed. I have my little fur babies with me and of course my babies and my husband. Everyone’s helping me and being so great. Like I said in my post, I’ve been seeing all your warm wishes, your prayers, all the positive vibes sent my way and I appreciate that. So thank you so much. Here we go, we’re gonna relax for a couple weeks then start some PT and get the ball going. I love you so much and I’ll keep you updated.”
