Music legend Phil Collins’ son Mathew has signed for German side 1860 Munich.
The 21-year-old midfielder, born in Switzerland, has spent the majority of his senior career in Austria, spending last season with second-tier side Austria Salzburg.
1860 announced the signing on Friday, with Collins penning a one-year deal at the Grunwalder Stadion.
Collins’ new club play in the Regionalliga, the fourth tier of German football.
1860 finished eighth in the third-tier 3. Liga last term but were relegated after failing to obtain a licence for the upcoming campaign.
Established as a multi-sports club way back in 1848, they added a football department in 1899.
Founder members of the Bundesliga in 1963 – unlike city rivals Bayern – they enjoyed their finest hour when they won the 1965/66 title.
1860 have also lifted the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) twice and reached the 1965 Cup Winners’ Cup final, losing to West Ham at Wembley.
After spells with German outfits Astoria Walldorf and Hannover 96 as a youngster, Collins moved across the border to Austria to join WSG Tirol in 2023.
Collins even featured for the club in a pre-season fixture against Bayern, where he came up against Harry Kane.
He made four league appearances for Austria Salzburg in 2025/26 and featured once in the domestic cup.
Collins linked up with his 1860 ahead of the campaign-opening 2-2 draw away to FC Schweinfurt.

His move comes after completing a trial at 1860.

Mathew is the youngest of Phil Collins’ five children, with his brother Nic also born in Switzerland.
Phil Collins shot to fame as the drummer and later lead singer of rock band Genesis in the 1970s.
He then went on to have a hugely successful solo career with hits such as ‘In the Air Tonight’ and his cover of the Supremes’ ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’.
Collins was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.
He had previously been inducted as a member of Genesis in 2010.
Mathew’s other sibling are actress and model Lily Collins, drummer and singer Simon Collins, and producer and actress Joely Collins.
