Ravens QB Tyler Huntley is expected to start against the Eagles on Saturday. Here’s what the backup hopes to accomplish in his 2026 debut.

Ravens fans will get their first look at the next version of the team this weekend. Baltimore’s backup quarterback is ready to make a positive impression in his first action of the season.
Ravens backup Tyler Huntley is expected to get the start in the team’s preseason opener against the Eagles. Huntley explained what he hopes to get out of that game in a recent interview.
“Get warmed up, use these game reps to get us ready for the season,” Huntley said on Thursday, per ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “We’ve got a lot of guys that’s playing, we’ll get some good work against another team. It’s gonna be good.”
Huntley is second on the depth chart behind starter Lamar Jackson. The Ravens also have Joe Fagnano and Austin Reed in reserve, who should also see the field against the Eagles.
Baltimore previously had veteran Skylar Thompson in their quarterback room. Unfortunately, Thompson was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. While the exact injury is unknown, his 2026 season may already be over.
Huntley has been a trusty backup ever since his 2021 breakout season in Baltimore. He played in seven games that year, logging 1,081 passing yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions. Huntley also added 47 carries for 294 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground, showcasing his solid rushing ability. That makes him the perfect backup for Jackson, allowing him to run the same plays and threaten defenses in the same way.
Huntley’s veteran presence should help Baltimore’s coaching staff assess the rest of the offense during their first preseason game.
